Why is it called Alcoholics Anonymous?

Why is it called Alcoholics Anonymous when the first thing you do is stand up and say, ‘My name is (—–) and I am an alcoholic’?

I have even heard that they keep a list of everyone that joins. Also some People that are in AA are court Ordered to be there. Well, So much for anonymous,

  2. Botsy says:

It’s anonymous because as a rule your name is not published or available to anyone except in rare cases tp the law.
The only way to actually cure a problem, is to admit and realize you have one, that’s why the opening statement.

  3. Lady Luana says:

I believe the lists are not published and not available except to law enforcement agencies, and when people introduce themselves, they don’t say “My name is … And my last name is … And I live here and work here”.

  4. THE CANNIBAL says:

I went there i lied about my name.but others saw me.afterwards a few of us had drinks for old times sake..it doesn,t work for everyone.it actually teed me off listening to that.i remember spilling coffee all over.then they had the nerve to say don,t come back when you,re drunk.so.i never went back.did it myself and the man above…
