You are probably right. I started going as a believing Catholic but in AA i found that being more agnostic was encouraged. In fact it seemed encouraged that AA become my new religion. In the end I lost my faith in all “religion” or theistic “spirituality”. Funny thing is that it is encouraged so many religious leaders yet too most AA becomes their religion and I’m finding that most of us who have managed walk away soberly are newly atheist. AA exposed the absurdities of religion and “faith” ?

On what point am I off base? Please be specific because I think I substantiated all of my claims fairly well. Should the court system be allowed to mandate criminals to AA? Does AA teach (as I quoted from the big book) that we have to meet a few specific requirements before the grace of God can come into our lives & that it is ok to believe in God “as you understand him” and that you don’t have to recognize Jesus Christ? Doesn’t 2John 9-11 tell us to seperate from those who teach such heresies?
sorry that you’re so way off base with this one. My sister and brother in law are professional counselors with the AA progr am and you’re just off base here.
