Recovery Message – Humbly Ask to Remove Our Shortcomings

Step 7: We humbly asked him (God) to remove our shortcomings. Won’t just any old kind of “ask” do? No. It won’t — and here’s why…

Plus NA members have threatened me and done a lot worse than this in the name of NA! Would you want to go to these people for help, or send someone to them? Guess what, hundreds of people do everyday including the courts!

Having been a student of the basic text of AA,I feel that when it comes to finding God that is a personal search.God is or he is not.Our Book says do not prejudice others with your concept of God let him follow his own conscience.Step 3 tells me to quit playing God,and our Bokk indicates that no further authentication will be required. The steps work without putting bells on them.Dont talk about them DO THEM ! Peace and out

@jboucher97 A Narcotics Anonymous chat room on Paltalk, circa July, 2008. A visit to the site today reveals it has been inactive since 2009. Search Narcotics Anonymous paltalk. Mike BD

  11. jboucher97 says:

Yet noone seems to be able/willing to produce the actual origins of this video.

  12. blamethenile says:

@jboucher97 Conspiracy theories abound, no doubt it. Mike BD

  13. jboucher97 says:

I suspect that this was not actually recorded in an online Narcotics Anonymous Group Chat. Can anyone either confirm or contradict my suspicions with a piece of credible evidence? Thank you.

  14. jboucher97 says:

Can you please tell me where to find the online Narcotics Anonymous Group Chat that this was recorded from? Thank you.

  15. blamethenile says:

@jboucher97 First, I don’t know if they are your NA members or not, merely that they represented themselves as mmebers in an on-line chat group. Second, we believe it genuinely helps very few. Third, step members usually believe themselves qualified to render psychological guidance to the less-indoctrinated. Finally, these videos are intended to forewarn those headed to the 12-step church, and to validate those who have been there and found it lacking. Mike BD

  16. jboucher97 says:

Please answer my question as to whether any of the comments in this video are made my Narcotics Anonymous members.

Second, please correct me if I’m wrong, but it sounds like you are saying that twelve step meetings help noone. Is this correct?

Third, it also sounds like you’re saying twelve-step meetings employ the use of psychologists. Is this correct?

Finally, it also sounds like you are saying that this video helps people needing help to find it. What might that help be? Thank you.

  17. blamethenile says:

@jboucher97 You are asserting that steppism actually helps those suffering from substance abuse issues, a claim with which we disagree. If our videos cause one person needing help to actually find it rather than end up in the rooms of the 12-step movement, with its self-denying religion, quack psychologists, and faith healing, we have been successful. Steppism isn’t treatment, it is snake-oil. Mike BD

  18. jboucher97 says:

Can you tell me if any of the comments in this video were made by NA members? Secondly, I never said that the retention rate is your fault. However, if this video discourages even one addict, alcoholic, or person needing help from finding that help, it could have potentially lethal results, not to mention the other devastation that comes from untreated addiction, alcoholism, …

  19. blamethenile says:

@jboucher97 NA, XA, and AA are terms we use interchangeably, since they are all sub-sects of the 12-step movement. Same church, different, pew. XA has always had an abysmal retention rate. How does that become our fault? Mike BD

  20. jboucher97 says:

I won’t disagree that the things said in this video are hurtful. However, I am wondering how you know that your videos do very little to affect AA’s retention rate. Also, I have been noticing that you have been referring to AA when responding to my comments, yet the title of the video is Online Narcotics Anonymous Group Chat. Can you please explain the connection for me. Thank you.

  21. blamethenile says:

@jboucher97 Those who say and do the things described in this video hurt people in the rooms. Those who deny, conceal and blame the messengers when these truths are bought to light facilitate that hurt. Our videos do very little to affect AA’s 5% one-year retention rate of all who go there, for whatever reason. AA had lousy overall results long before the first video went up. Mike BD

  22. jboucher97 says:

Again thank you for your reply. As I had implied in my previous statement, this video is hurting people in the rooms who have not hurt you and people who may be turned away from the rooms by this video without ever giving the rooms a chance.

  23. blamethenile says:

@jboucher97 I had great experiences in AA, particularly the one where I resigned and left for good. Who, precisely is this video hurting? Mike BD

  24. jboucher97 says:

Thank you for your prompt reply. Again, I am sorry for your experience. However, this video is hurting people who have done nothing to you. I don’t deny that you may have had a bad experience with some of the people in the rooms. However, this makes all of the people in the rooms look bad, which isn’t fair to them or anyone else who won’t give them a chance based on this video.

  25. blamethenile says:

@jboucher97 Our experiences with the 12-step movement were fairly typical. Not all our videos are like this one, so please keep watching until you find one that strikes a chord with you. Mike BD

  26. jboucher97 says:

I am sorry you had a bad experience with 12 step recovery. However, all meetings are not like this. Please do not bias others who have not had a chance to attend meetings and make that decision for themselves.

  27. na4life100 says:

all this is bullshit the na a program has saved my life!

  28. blamethenile says:

@1000medical I checked for any cult references in this video, and don’t see any. As for your opinion, you are welcome to it. Mike BD

  29. 1000medical says:

A cult is a particular system of religious worship with reference to it rites and ceremonies. NA and AA believe in a Higher Power in which it’s members can have any religious views. One thing about sobriety there is no one why in which someone can stay clean for the rest of there life. My opinion is that you are scared and not really sure in your own sobriety and that is why you feel you have to put someone elses choice and decisions down. Find another cause to support and not tear down.

  30. blamethenile says:

@MrRyanesmyth Re-read the title of the video. Mike BD

  31. MrRyanesmyth says:

Tradition 6…an NA group ought never endorse finance or LEND the NA name to ANY related facility or outside enterprise lest problems of money property or prestige divert us from our primary purpose

Tradition 10…NA has no opinion on outside issues hence the NA name ought never be drawn into public controversy

READ THE TRADITIONS this is not affiliated with NA and should not! be referd to as such!

  32. MrRyanesmyth says:

You/ they are using the term “NA” meeting or “AA” meeting and NA narcotics anonymous is not affiliated wit any online chats, groups, or meeting there fore they shouldn refered to as NA im not sure about AA but im pretty sure they arent affiliated with any of these groups either!!!!!!

  33. ndrthrdr1 says:

Step programs produce delusional people dependent on the program and on imaginary friends of their own invention.
