I am uncertain on the success rate or failure rate for AA. I feel 5% might be on the high side sometimes. If success is being a part of society, being able to be oneself and be useful and productive, to love and be loved, then only an individual might be able to say what is successful? I am glad for fellowship, I am part of my family again. how it works for anyone is their journey I am guessing. Thank you for insights and taking the time. I cannot judge for others, I am more myself these days..

My grandmother became addicted to AA meetings, as did an ex-boyfriend of mine. I lost them, the more lost they became in that “Big Book.” Soon they grew robotic, unable to relate to ANYONE who was not in AA. It is akin to a cult. 23 YEARS after she stopped drinking, AA had my grandmother referring to herself as an alcoholic. It was tragic. Should a morbidly obese person call themselves fat after they lost lots of weight are no longer fat? Not at all. AA has a 5% success rate, so does no AA.

@cocainehelp I know what allergies are, and what types of heart disease there are. alcoholism is a disease. It is defined and classified as a disease. Go argue with the American Medical Assn, not me. They defined it as a disease.

  4. evet45 says:

@cocainehelp Do not confuse the word disease with things that are just contagious. There are many diseases that are not. Alcoholism is classified as a disease, and it is treated by medical professionals as a disease. Do not confuse the sequella of alcoholism with the actual disease., itself.

  5. cocainehelp says:

Like in case of poisoning someone needs a medical treatment , but you can’t classificate poisoning as disease. Alcohol can acute poisoning, alcoholism is a chronic poisoning. Alcohol do not cause emotional/social problems, behavior induced by alcohol cost these problems.

  6. cocainehelp says:

    @evet45
Allergic reaction means that allergen is reacting with antibodies. There are no antibodies conjuncted with use of alcohol. Contagious disease are infectious disease. Infectious disease have many aspects like infection agent, host and etc.
There are more than 300 heart diseases, call it by name.

  7. evet45 says:

@cocainehelp: In summary, it is the venom of the snake bite that causes the chemical reaction, either mild oir fatal. If the snale is NOT venonmous, the site still needs tending to, to avoid infection.

  8. evet45 says:

@cocainehelp the venom of a snake bite creates a reaction, that requires treatment. People allergic to oak trees seek treatment for the symptoms . the definition of disease is NOT condfined to contagious, and THAT is where people get confused. Heart disease is a good example. Illness/disease/ malady, what;s the difference, It;s a chemical reaction that requires treatment for some, Alcohol abuse also causes /mental/emotional/social/medical prblems as well.

  9. cocainehelp says:

If you got bitten by poisons snake, you will need a medical treatment; however doesn’t prove that bite is a disease.

Look at the AA web site: A breif guide to AA.
“What Does Alcoholics Anonymous Not Do”
AA is for alcoholics who want to get sober.
AA is not a religious organization.
All members are free to decide on their own personal ideas about the meaning of life.
I did see the word Disease used once there. The Original info used MANY times the word, “ILLNESS”. People should do a
little research before doing a Strawman.
BTW, what did AA do to this guy, a guy who hates the idea of a Creator?
    Namaste

  11. evet45 says:

A newborn infant who needs withdrawal treatment is proff that alcoholism is a disease, and needs medical treatment. AA helps as a positive support system for those who want to stay sober, and live a sober lifestyle. Maybe some people cannot stay sober on their own, and AA works for them!

How many ways are there to get to chicago?

  13. Yoganao says:

Bill W. hated alcoholics & his 12 step cult are definite punishment, whose rules were for everyone but himself, Bill Wilson was a punk.

  14. baneberry7 says:

AA is a cult and they cant stand to be challenged in anyway that there are other ways of sobriety!! Thanks to the people that made this video !!!!! It is about time people start hearing the truth!!

  15. SKThompson90 says:

AA works i am living proof. I have been sober in AA for 18 years.

  16. lighwave says:

The obvious motivation for this video is to inform people of the dangerous cult nature of AA and it’s inherent non workability.

  17. hedges2 says:

AA doesn’t work because it’s a religion and to dare to question a mind controlling cult religion like AA, is considered heresy by all the brain-washed converts and old timers in the cult of AA.
Alcoholism is a choice, not a disease though AA IS a dangerous religious cult.

  18. Blue091402 says:

I have no idea what the motivation for this video is?
