Elizabeth Taylor – The 1970′s – by Richard Bassett

The decade of the 1970′s was very different from Dame Elizabeth’s star spangled opulence of the 1960′s. Elizabeth was maturing more as a woman through the 1970′s and her issues were getting deeper and more complex as she got older. The 1950′s seemed to be superfluous compared to the 1970′s. Elizabeth turned 40 in 1972, was married and divorced twice, lost the love of her life, battled food and alcohol addiction and was thrust into the limelight as a senator’s wife. These were drastic changed in relation to the first 40 years of her life. She took all of her issues head on and emerged in the 1980′s more stunning and wiser than ever. The strength that she needed to get through the 1970′s was taken from her core, her inner desire to survive. She discovered she could stand right up there with the rest of them and not crumble. In viewing these short film clips, please donate to the cause that has become Dame Elizabeth Taylor’s life mission for over two decades. The eradication of AIDS in the world. Until such time, “The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation” funds programs and organization that give direct care to the population of millions affected with HIV/AIDS…whether it is direct care or related/ associated services. So many people are now living longer with AIDS/HIV due to advances in viral medication technology, but the impact of living a life with AIDS is far reaching. AIDS affects all of us, in one way or another. Generations of young people are not conscious of the

    Rest in Peace Lady Elizabeth…
Now you will be with your beloved friend Michael…she never overcame his passing and i think that his death was a big factor in her deterioration.
Another legend is gone and our world is poorer after loosing those wonderful emerald eyes…
Liz please give a big hug to Michael…

The February 2007 issue of Interview magazine was devoted entirely to Taylor. It celebrated her life, career and her upcoming 75th birthday.

I loved her in the 1970′s…that”s her stye, all that over-the-top hair and jewelry and wild colors. Wrong for her age, height and varying weight? You bet. But totally correct for LIZ TAYLOR. You left out the hot pants! And even in the Warner era there were some fab moments of glamor. She didn’t really give a damn, and that’s what made her so exciting.

  17. wisdaniel says:

She got heavy in the late 70′s. Wasn’t that when she was married to that Republican Congressman. See, Republican’s aren’t good for anything. Liz should have known better.

  19. sohooded says:

She is the most beautiful woman of all time. ….bar none…..

  20. zzheavensdoor says:

She is always lovely, but her true beauty belongs to the 1950s: soft, waved hair, full figure in full-skirted luxury frocks, still slim, luminous face and eyes. She was stunningly lovely as a young woman. The mini-skirted 1960s did not suit her, she was never a “chick” and the straight hair and simple look of that era did not work for her. Same for the pants suit look of the 70s. The ultra feminine 50s fashion was perfect on her. She is a wonderful , brave woman, a real survivor
