Alcoholism?

Is there an over the counter medication you can give to someone that will make them sick if they drink alcohol.

I’ve never heard of one, I think it needs to be a court ordered or doctor prescribed drug. Antibuse is the only thing I’ve heard of.

    Try laxatives lol

Antabuse is a prescription medication which is not commonly used today ( mainly only used in severe alcoholics). Best cure for alcoholism? AA

You know here where I live it’s right on the boarder of Mexico. Over there they have some pills that do that. You take them and when you drink it makes you sick. Even the smell will make you sick. You can crush them up and mix them with food so they don’t know what your doing. My friend did this to her 16 year old son. He was getting so bad with the drinking. Her last straw was when he flipped her car. He got out of that by the skin on his teeth. She bought some pills in Mexico and would crush them into his food, soup what ever he was going to eat and with in 3 days she was seeing results. He went out one night and an hour later he called his Mom because he was feeling sick. Now he is doing good. Going to school and has a job. Has not had a drink in over 8 months!!!
Look into it if you can.

Antibuse Is the only one that I heard of. If taken by the person and that person is a heavy drinker he could end up in the hospital.

Why would you do that to someone? The only way a person can quit drinking is if they realize they have a problem (if they actually do) and then make the conscious effort to stop.
That’s quite self-righteous of you to think you can control someone else’s life.
Also, AA has success simply because of the support in talking to strangers anonymously with similar problems. The problem arises when these strangers become crutches for one another, plus the whole holier-than-thou mentality of born-again non-drinkers in AA… all of a sudden they are great and everyone else with a “vice” is evil.
My advice? Let it be. If change is meant to occur, it will. You can not make the decision for someone else.
Plus, it’s quite rotten you want to make someone sick.
